The 1D MODEL workflow

The 1D Model strip guides you through the pore pressure prediction process, from capturing critical data as composed logs to calculating the pore pressure and horizontal stresses. For each step in the process you will find the necessary tools and related functionality to aid you in performing an accurate analysis and prediction. The strip is organized according to the steps you typically follow in a 1D geomechanics project, and each of the major steps in the process has a corresponding sub-strip with different features and functionality for completing your work. The strip is organized as follows:

  • Log composition: Create and review composite logs. Functionality for converting logs between different log types can also be found in this sub-strip.
  • Lithology: Define the lithology and manage rock types.
  • Overburden: Determine the overburden density profile in order to calculate the overburden stress.
  • Pore Pressure: Through compaction disequilibrium analysis and the Bowers Method, you can calculate raw pore pressures and define an interpreted pore pressure profile. Additionally, a Centroid Buoyancy effect in permeable formations can be calculated.
  • Horizontal Stress: Calculate Shmin and SHmax.
  • Depletion/Injection: Calculate the effects of depletion/injection scenarios.
  • Mapping: Map data from an offset wellbore to a planned or existing wellbore.
