Limestone-GMI-Literature-E

UCS = 4.66 ´ E0.51

where

4.66 is a non-dimensional constant.

E is static Young modulus in psi.

This equation is derived from a synthesis of published data (110 limestone samples). The measured rock strength ranges between 1,500 and 42,000 psi with an average of 11,300 psi. The samples represent relatively strong limestones. The major weakness of this data set is the lack of information on the nature of the samples and the laboratory procedures. The applicability of this equation to well logs is limited to data sets with known static-dynamic correction factor, and fluid effects may also have to be compensated for.
