Selecting a geometry type for a new feature
While creating a new feature, you must select a geometry type for it. JewelSuite Geomechanics has 4 geometry types for features:
-
Point -
Point set -
Polyline set -
Polygon set
- a polyline set to a point set or polygon set
- a polygon set to a point set or polyline set
Select a geometry type from the drop-down list and click OK. The form closes, the new feature is created and stored in the JewelExplorer under the Geographic Features folder in the following way:
- If you create a new feature from the context menu of a feature set, the feature is stored under the selected feature set with the name 'Feature(#)'. To rename a feature, double click on it in the JewelExplorer.
- If you create a new feature from an existing feature, the feature is stored under the 'Converted' feature set folder with the name of the selected feature. To rename a feature, double click on it in the JewelExplorer.
If you are creating a new feature from the context menu of the Feature Set folder, no matter what geometry type you selected, it consists of one data point. You can modify the location of the node, or add more nodes to the feature (if the feature is either a point set, polyline set or polygon set) with the Edit Feature form, opened from the context menu of the new created feature in the JewelExplorer. Once you have assigned a geometry type to a feature, you cannot change the type anymore.
