Picking repeat markers

Second or third penetrations of the same stratigraphic interface in a wellbore can occur in vertical wells around reverse faults and are quite common with highly deviated and horizontal wells. Also other types of markers, like inflection points, might occur multiple times.

To add repeat markers in the Well View

  1. Open the Well View and open the floating palette.
  2. Make sure the relevant marker is the active marker by clicking it in the JewelExplorer. Select the Picking Marker tool on the floating palette ().
  3. Ctrl-click in a well track to add a second appearance of the marker at the required depth position. If you want to add a third one, make sure the Pick Marker tool is still active, and use ctrl -click to add a marker in the same track at a different depth.

To add repeat markers in the 3D View

  2. Make sure the relevant marker is the active marker by clicking it in the JewelExplorer. Select the Pick and Move Marker tool on the floating palette ().
  3. Ctrl-click in a well track to add a second appearance of the marker at the required depth position. If you want to add a third one, make sure the Pick Marker tool is still active, and use Ctrl -click to add a marker in the same track at a different depth.

To add repeat markers in a Cross Section

  1. Right click on your designated well in the JewelExplorer. From the context menu choose the option Create > Create vertical section. This will open a dialog window where you can select how to create a vertical section and what extension distance to take into account. Click OK to create a cross section along the wellbore.
  2. Select the relevant marker in the JewelExplorer, then select the Pick and Move Marker tool on the floating palette ().
  3. Ctrl-click on the wellbore in the cross section to add an extra marker at the required depth position. If you want to add a third one, make sure the Pick Marker tool is still active, and use ctrl -click to add an appearance of the marker at a different depth.

To add repeat markers in a Seismic View

  1. Open a Seismic View (Workspace > Views > Seismic View or Alt+F3), or make an already open Seismic view the active view .
  2. Open the Editing Tools (Workspace > Tools > Editing Tools or Shift+F1).
