Assigning models to a volumetric concept
With the last step of the Volumetric Concepts workflow, Assign Models (concept > Volumetric Concepts > Assign Models) you can assign domain models to a volumetric concept. Only when domain models are assigned, the concept is 'valid' for calculations with the study strip.
Due to model dependencies (for example a rock property model has been created on a particular 3D grid that is based on a structural model, etc.) you cannot randomly pick domain models from the JewelExplorer to assign them to a volumetric concept. The saturation model determines the full chain of backward dependent domain models, as saturation modeling is the last step in the creation of a static reservoir model (the only exception is the Net-to-Gross model, which is independent). For that reason, you select the saturation model (in the form of a 'saturation property model') on the form, after which all backward dependent domain models are automatically assigned as well. Uncertainties defined within any of the domain models used by any concept will be included in the volumetric concept.
The Assign Models form works interactively with the Concept View. If you assign models to a volumetric concept and click Apply or OK at the base of the form, the Concept View is immediately updates and shows the assigned models in the concept 'chain' (make sure the relevant volumetric scenario is selected at the top of the Concept View). When no domain model has been assigned, 'None' is printed for that modeling step in the Concept View.
To assign models to a volumetric concept
- At the top of the form, select the relevant volumetric scenario. Upon selection, the available volumetric concepts are listed in the Concepts list.
- In the Concepts list, select the concept to which you want to assign models.
- The Models section contains two selection drop-downs: one for the Saturation Model, and one for the Net to Gross model. When you select the saturation model (created with the Saturation Property Modeling workflow), all backward dependent models (e.g., fluid model, 3D grid, structural model, etc.) are automatically assigned to the concept. The saturation property model assigned to the volumetric concept must have a fluid model assigned to it. You can optionally assign the Net-to-Gross model. If you do not assign a Net to Gross model, a Net to Gross of 1 is assumed.
- Click Apply to assign the model(s) and keep the form open or click OK to assign the models and close the form.
- Optionally, open the Concept View (Workspace > Views) for a graphical display of the models which are assigned to each modeling step. Make sure the relevant volumetric scenario is selected at the top of the view.
