Coordinate reference settings
Use the CRS form to review the assigned CRS of your project. This form is not editable. As described in the Geodetic integrity topic, coordinate reference system (CRS) selection is performed when starting a new solution or opening a legacy solution without an assigned CRS. The selection process is handled by the Set solution CRS form, using the Blue Marble library. After a CRS has been selected, its name is displayed in the lower left corner of various views (such as the 3D View) and is listed in the Inspector as part of the details for a geospatial located object (such as a well). The CRS form, opened via the Referencing button group of the Home > Settings strip, serves as a reference to the selected CRS and provides additional CRS information. In some circumstances (see below), the CRS can be changed using this form.
Changing the assigned CRS
The CRS can be changed only if the solution contains no geospatial data like wells or surfaces. To change the CRS, click
to open the CRS selection dialog. Selection of a CRS here follows the same procedure as the Set solution CRS form.
If you delete all your data, you cannot change the selected CRS anymore. If you want to assign a different CRS, you have to create a new solution.
CRS identification and definition
Click the
button to open the system viewer dialog. This dialog shows general information related to the selected CRS. All information is read-only. The view allows you to inspect and check the selected system’s data. There are two tabs in this view, Identification and Definition, which are described below.
Basic, read-only, information regarding the CRS including name, a description, and any additional identifiers (codes).
More detailed information on the CRS, its geodetic source, projection, parameters and units applied. Click the Information buttons to the right of the Area of Use, Point Style, or Geodetic fields to access additional data regarding the definition of the CRS.
The Information window can also be opened before a CRS has actually been selected. In the CRS search dialog, single click on a system name in the selection list and click the Info button that becomes active.
