Calculating stress ratios

Use the Calculate Stress Ratios form (MODEL > Geomechanics >Tools > Calculate Stress Ratios) to calculate effective and total stress ratios for selected wells.

To calculate stress ratios

1. On the Calculate Stress Ratios form, select the well(s) for which you want to calculate stress ratios.
2. Select the logs for Overburden, Shmin, SHmax, and Pore Pressure, that are to be used to calculate the stress ratios.

3. Select one or more of the following options:

   Calculate effective stress ratios  Calculate a ratio between the effective horizontal stress and the effective overburden stress.

   Calculate total stress ratios  Calculate a ratio between the total horizontal stress the total overburden stress.

   Overwrite existing properties  Select this option to overwrite existing properties. If you do not check the box and a log with the same name already exists, a sequential number is added to the newly mapped property’s name.

4. Click OK to calculate the selected stress ratios and close the form. The following logs are calculated and added to the respective wellbores in the JewelExplorer:

• For effective stress ratio: 'ESR Horizontal Stress, Minimum' and 'ESR Horizontal Stress, Maximum'.
• For total stress ratio: 'TSR Horizontal Stress, Minimum' and 'TSR Horizontal Stress, Maximum'.
