3D grid preparation

For dynamic reservoir simulation studies, a 3D grid with a coarser resolution than the regular geological grid is needed to reduce the time and resource requirements for complex models. Due to the flexible setup of the JewelGrid system, the upscaling process is fast and consistent, and it provides various algorithms to upscale the grid geometry and grid properties. The geological structure of the 'source' grid is maintained in the resulting 'target' grid.

The process of upscaling a grid for simulation involves defining the individual layers that will be represented in the model, upscaling any 3D grid properties, and creating the upscaled grid. You can perform all the necessary steps using the Upscaling and Layers form in the model > 3D Grid strip.
