Saturation modeling

The importance of saturation modeling is its impact on the fluid distribution in a reservoir. Depending on the properties of the reservoir rock/fluid system, saturation modeling can have quite an impact on the accuracy of volumetric estimation, and the results of the dynamic simulation.

For saturation modeling, JewelSuite offers two consecutive workflows in the Saturation strip (model > Saturation). These are:

  1. Saturation Function Modeling  In this workflow, you define saturation functions per class. In most cases this will be facies classes, but you can select any other discrete property. Then you can validate and verify your saturation function model at well level. You use this function model as input to your saturation property model.
  2. Saturation Property Modeling  In this workflow, you use the saturation function model to populate your 3D grid with saturation properties. After validating and verifying your model at grid level, you use these 3D grid properties in volumetric calculations.
