Assigning a fluid model
After creating a saturation function model and specifying rock properties (i.e. facies, porosity, permeability, net rock), the next step is to specify a fluid model on the Fluid Properties form (model > Saturation > Saturation Function Modeling > Fluid Properties). JewelSuite Subsurface Modeling will then take the following required information from this fluid model:
- Free water level (FWL), specified per compartment on the Fluid levels form. If the fluid model consists of Paleo FWL(s), the Saturation Functions form is updated with the saturation height function correlations that can accurately model the saturation in the paleo zone.
- Fluid and rock-fluid properties, specified per compartment on the Fluid properties form.
- Fluid densities - Oil, gas and water densities (ρo, ρg and ρw).
- Interfacial tensions - The interfacial tension between oil-water and gas-water (σow and σgw).
- Contact Angles - Cosθ for oil-water and for gas-water, where θ is the wetting angle (cosθow and cosθgw).
- Fluid leg logs which are output of your fluid model, created via the Fluid Model Logs tool (model > Fluids > Tools > Output Tools > Fluid Model Logs)
Important
If you update your fluid model, remember to update your fluid leg log.
To assign fluid properties from a fluid model
- On the Fluid Properties form, select the saturation function model from the Function model drop-down list.
- Select the fluid model you want to use from the Fluid model drop-down list.
- Click Apply to assign the fluid properties and keep the form open, or click OK to assign the fluid properties and proceed to the Saturation functions form.
Important
The log intervals with undefined fluid leg logs (which are output from your fluid model) will also have undefined saturation values.
