Trim surfaces by polygon

Use the Trim Surfaces by Polygon tool (prepare > Post-Processing Tools > Tri-mesh Tools > Removal > Trim Surfaces by Polygon) to remove triangles that lie inside or outside a polygon. You can also remove triangles and patches using the other removal tools.

  1. At the top of the form, select a source from the 'Source' drop-down list. This selection populates the table below with all available tri-meshes. Select the tri-meshes to modify by checking the individual check boxes.
  2. Select the polygon to use for trimming the tri-mesh.
  3. Under Remove Section, select whether the triangles inside or outside the selected polygon should be removed from the tri-mesh.
  4. Under Removal Mode, you can select whether the triangles will be fully removed or cut . Remove Triangles removes complete triangles, while Smooth cut removes only those parts of the triangles that lie outside or inside the polygon.
  5. Click OK to remove or cut all triangles which lie inside or outside the polygon.
