Merging log sets

With the Log Set Merge form under the Log Tools button (prepare > Wells > Log Tools > Log Set Merge) (Workspace > Tools) you can combine comparable log data from different sources for different wells into one log data set. You might need to do this when creating type logs for offset planned wells, for example. On the Log Set Merge form, you select the log data you want to combine and define the priority of the various data sets. The priority is a measure of reliability and defines which data to use in case of overlap, for instance when the combined selected log data sets contain more than one log in a well.

To merge log sets

  1. Open the Log Set Merge form.
  2. Provide a name that will be given to the merged log in the Log set name text field.
  3. In the Family field of the Source Logs section, select the template for the log set to indicate which type of logs you are going to combine.
  4. Select the logs you want to combine from the list. You can select the logs individually, or click right in the box and use one of the selection options.
  5. In the Target logs table, specify the priority of the log data. Click on a log and use the arrows to move the selected item up or down in the list.
  6. To merge the selected logs into one combined log, click Apply.
  7. A new log will be created for each wellbore under Well Data > Wells. You can also find the new log under Well Data > All Logs.
