Create Case
All simulation input, parameters, settings and results are collected and stored in a simulation case. As the first step in the Abaqus simulation workflow, use the Create Case form (simulate > Abaqus > Create Case) to create an Abaqus case, or select an existing case.
To create a new Abaqus case
- On the Create Case form, select
Create new in the Abaqus case drop-down list. - Type a name for the case in the text field below.
- Click Apply to create the case and keep the Create Case form open, or click OK to create the case and proceed to the Assign Data form. The created case becomes the active case, which is the default selection for all other actions in the workflow.
To change the active Abaqus case
- On the Create Case form, select the case of interest in the Abaqus case drop-down list.
- Click Apply or OK to set the selected case to active. Clicking Apply will keep the Create Case form open, clicking OK will close the form and open the Assign Data form. The selected case becomes the active case, which is the default selection for all other actions in the workflow.
The created case is available in the Case Explorer (Ctrl+F4). You can view and edit the general settings via the case's context menu: Show View > General Settings, or via the context menu option of the General Settings item under the case: Edit section. For more information, see General Abaqus case settings.
The input file, which contains all of the input scripts for the simulation, can be reviewed and edited via the case's context menu option: Show View > Input File, or via the context menu option of the Input file item listed under the case: Edit section. Both options open the Abaqus Input file.
