2D View toolbar

The 2D View toolbar at the top of the 2D View contains a set of readily-accessible tools to customize the view.

Toggle gridlines  Display the gridlines in the current view. Click again to deactivate.

Selection box  Display a selection box around the selected object. Click again to deactivate.

Grid margins  Show or hide the white margins around the view.
View from top  Inspect your model from directly overhead.

View from bottom  Inspect your model from below.

View from west  Inspect your model from the west.

View from east  Inspect your model from the east.

View from north  Inspect your model from the north.

View from south  Inspect your model from the south.
Compass rose  Show or hide the small 3D axis representation in the 2D View. To change the default state, go to Display Settings (home > Settings).
Zoom in  Incrementally zoom in on the model. You can also use the mouse wheel to zoom in on the model.
Zoom out  Incrementally zoom out from the model. You can also use the mouse wheel to zoom out from the model.
Reset zoom  Clear all zoom changes to the model.

Cross-sections  Create planar or arbitrary cross-sections. Use the drop-down to select an option.

Create planar cross-section  Create a planar cross-section. Click to start new plane and click again to finish.

Create arbitrary cross-section  Create an arbitrary cross-section with one or more flat panes. Click to start a new pane and click again to extend the cross-section. Double click to finish the cross-section. To adjust the control points on the arbitrary cross-section, hold shift and click on the point to move.
Delete a pane of a cross-section To delete a pane in a cross-section, you must use the appropriate side view (west, east, north or south). Click on the pane to delete.
Delete an edge of a cross-section To delete an edge in a cross-section, you must use the appropriate side view (west, east, north or south). Click on an edge (point while viewing in plan view) to delete. If you delete an edge in the middle of a cross-section, the adjacent points will form a new pane.
Open cross-sections form Opens the Cross Sections form. On this form, you can create projection planes onto which intersections with 3D grids, 2D surfaces, and 1D (poly)lines are drawn.
Measure distance between two points  Measures the distance between two points along with apparent dip and azimuth.

Measure distance and area between multiple points  Measures the area between multiple points. Click to start defining the area and double click to finish. To start a new measurement, hold down the Shift key only when clicking the first point, then release the Shift key, and continue with clicking as many points as you need. Following measurements are shown.

  • Area enclosed between multiple points (yellow)
  • Total distance (red)
  • Distance between consecutive points (green)
  • Distance between the first and last point (white)
Copy view to Clipboard  Copies the current view to the Clipboard for usage in other applications.
Save view to file  Saves the current view to file, file-name and destination are user-defined.

Probe (shortcut key: Ctrl+I) Tool that displays information for the location that the cursor is hovering over or pointing at. In the 2D view, when turned on, you can view the name of the object and the 3D coordinates of the location that the cursor is pointing at. This information is displayed both in the Status Bar and in a text box that appears in the view just below and to the right of the cursor. In the Well View, when turned on, you can view the depth and log value of the position that the cursor is pointing at.

View linking  Various options to link multiple views. See View linking options for more info.

Link visibility  Show/hide objects simultaneously in all linked views .

Link camera  Control the rotation, panning, zooming and depth/area scaling for all linked views simultaneously.
Link cursor See the movement of your mouse cursor in all linked views.
Unlink all views Disable all the view linking options for all linked views at once.
