Adding and editing perforation data to the Well View
To graphically display your perforation data in the Well View, you first have to set up your Well View with the Templates form. The 5 templates that are available do not include a perforations track. You can either create a copy of an existing template and rename it, or you can create a new (empty) template.
- Open the Well View.
- To create a new template, select None in the Template drop-down list in the Well View toolbar.
- Right click in your Well View, and select the Edit option. The Template Editor opens.
- In the Track Explorer, click the + Track tab or right-click the name of the template and click Add track. You can also right-click on an existing track if you want to display both the perforations log and another log in one track.
- Select the new track in theTrack Explorer and in the settings window change the name of the track.
- Right-click the new track with the new name in the Track Explorer, and select Add perforations.
- You can change the settings of the template and the track by selecting it in the Track Explorer, and adjusting the settings in the settings window. When you are done with adjusting the settings, click Apply to apply the changes and keep the Template Manager open, or click OK to apply the changes and close the form. In the Well View toolbar, click the save icon. This will open a new form, where you can type the name of the template.
- Click Save.
- The template you have created will be automatically selected for the Well View.
-
You can use the same steps to add a well schematic to an existing template. Instead of selecting none, select an existing template. Since you cannot save changes to an existing template, you have to rename the template.
The template you have created will be automatically selected for the Well View.
To change the display settings of the perforation track, use the options provided to you in the settings pane on the Template Manger form. The perforation track supports layered display. Right click on the perforation track, from the context menu that opens select the log type you want to add to the track. Then open the log settings by selecting the added log, select the log you want to display and change the settings if needed.
Like any other time based property, you can animate your well perforations in the 3D View using the Time animation tool. You can also use the time animation in the Well View.
Well schematic settings
You can adjust your well perforation data using the Perforations tab in the Well table. If you update this table, the Well View will be updated accordingly. The list of available wellbores in the Well table is based on the wells you select in the JewelExplorer.
