Aquifers view

Aquifers are used to provide for water influx from rock surrounding the defined reservoir grid. The ECLIPSE™ simulator supports a number of aquifer modeling facilities. In the workflow, Fetkovich and Carter-Tracy aquifers are supported.

The master table of the Aquifer view list the aquifers defined for the deck.

Active  A check indicates that the aquifer is active.  An inactive reservoir is not written to the deck.

Name  Name of the aquifer. Used internally to for identification. Not generated in the deck.

Model ID  Number used in the ECLIPSE™ deck to identify the aquifer.

Type  Type of aquifer:  either Fetkovich or Carter-Tracy.

Source  Name of upstream aquifer to which this aquifer row is connected.

Fetkovich Aquifer Properties tab

The Fetkovich Aquifer Properties tab is used to edit parameters for the current Fetkovich aquifer definition. These values are all parameters to the AQUFETP keyword.  See the ECLIPSE™ reference manual for a description. This table is enabled when the type of the selected aquifer is set to Fetkovich.

Carter-Tracey Aquifer Properties tab

The Carter-Tracy Aquifer Properties tab is used to edit parameters for the current Carter-Tracy aquifer definition.  These values are all parameters to the AQUCT keyword.  See the ECLIPSE™ reference manual for a description. This table is enabled when the type of the selected aquifer is set to Carter-Tracy.

Aquifer Connection Data tab

The Aquifer Connection Data tab contains a list of connection to the grid for the currently selected aquifer definition.

I1, I2, J1, J2, K1, K2  Grid block ranges for the aquifer connection. Required.

Face  One of X, Y, Z, I+, I-, J+, J-, K+, K- indicating the face of the block that is the fault.

Influx  Fraction of the total communications of the aquifer for each cell.

Multiplier  Applied to influx coefficient.

Active  Allow connections inside the reservoir.
