Statistical Analysis chart options
These settings only apply to charts created by the Statistical Analysis tool. When you click Views > Charts in the tree to the left of the Display Settings form (Home > Settings) the dialog at the right lets you customize various visual aspects of the charts in the Histogram, Scatter Plot and Variogram views related to the elements that make up the chart area. There are a total of eight elements (Views/Charts, Axes, Title, Subtitle, Legend, Histogram, Scatterplot, XY Plot) for which you can define settings, discussed separately below. Make your settings and click Apply to set the options.
Views/Charts
Chart background color Option to control the color of the area outside the chart area
Pane background color Option to control the background color of the chart area.
Data color Allows you to control the color of the data display. Note that, depending on the type of data being displayed in the chart, the color will automatically be assigned according to the property template.
Axes
Title
Font – Click Font to open a Font display where you can specify which font, style and size to use for the title.
Color - Select the color to use for the title.
Labels
Font – Click Font to open a Font display where you can specify which font, style and size to use for the labels.
Color - Select the color used for the labels.
Gridlines For both the major and minor gridlines define the following settings:
Visible X-axis/Y-axis – Select to make the gridlines visible.
Color - Select the color to use for the gridlines.
Dash style –Select which style to use for the gridlines.
Thickness – Select the thickness of the gridlines.
Title/Subtitle
Font Click Font to open a Font display where you can specify which font, style and size to use for the title.
Color Select the color of the title.
Word wrap Select to fit the title in the view.
Dock Defines which side of the chart the title is displayed. For example, selecting Right will place the title along the right side of the chart, with the text reading vertically.
Alignment One of Near, Center or Far. Near corresponds to a left alignment, while Far corresponds to a right alignment.
Legend
Font Click Font to open a Font display where you can specify which font, style and size to use for the legend information.
Color Select the color of the legend text.
Background color Sets the background color of the legend.
Alignment vertical Specifies the vertical position of the legend in relation to the chart. The TopOutside and BottomOutside options will place the legend in the specified position, but outside of the chart area that contains the data.
Alignment horizontal Specifies the vertical position of the legend in relation to the chart. The LeftOutside and RightOutside options will place the legend in the specified position, but outside of the chart area that contains the data.
Histogram
Number of bins Specifies the default number of bins visible in the chart. Often, the chart controls available can override this default.
Scatterplot
Marker style Controls the shape of the marker.
Marker size Specifies the size of the marker shape.
XY Plot
Panes per page Controls the number of panes allowed to be displayed within a Production Data view before the view begins to scroll. This value can also be set from within the Production Data view itself.
Click on the Options... from the context menu of any chart, histogram, scatter plot or a variogram to access the chart options dialog. There are six tabs on the left side of the dialog. Click on the tabs to access the settings.
- Chart Change the background color of the charting area using the drop down. Check the box adjacent to Rotated to rotate the chart by 90 degrees.
- Pane Change the background color of the plotting area using the drop down.
- Axes On the axes tab you can change the display settings and axis ranges of the chart. Select the axis from the drop down list at the top of the dialog.
- Visible Check off the adjacent checkbox to hide the axis.
- Reverse Check the adjacent checkbox to reverse the start position of the axis. For a reverse primary X-axis, the axis values increment from right to left.
- Alignment There are three alignment options in the drop down list - Near, Far and Zero. The default position for all axes is set to ‘Near’.
- Range By default the axes range is set to Auto. To enter the range manually, toggle off the checkbox adjacent to Auto. Specify the Min and Max values for the range in the fields below.
- Tickmark interval Change the interval for major tickmarks. Toggle off the checkbox adjacent to Auto and enter the value in the field below.
- Appearance Change the color and thickness of the axis.
- Title Display options for the axis title. Toggle off the Visible checkbox to hide the axis title. You can specify a custom title in the Text field. Select the vertical Alignment of the axis title from the drop down list of three options, i.e. Near, Center and Far. Change the Color of axis title from the drop down menu. Click on the Font... button to open the fonts settings dialog.
- Tickmarks Toggle on/off the adjacent check boxes to show or hide the major and minor tickmarks on the chart.
- Grid Lines Change the Color, Dash style and Thickness for the major and minor grid lines. Toggle on/off the check boxes adjacent to Visible to show or hide the major and minor grid lines.
- Labels Change the font, color and visibility of axis labels.
- Series Change the visibility of a series on the plot or the chart. Select the series from the drop down list at the top of the dialog. Check off the checkbox adjacent to Visible to hide the selected series on the chart.
- Chart Titles On this tab you can change the visibility and display settings for the chart title. Check off the checkbox adjacent to Visible to hide the chart title.
- Position Select the Dock position and Alignment of the chart title from the drop down list.
- Appearance Change the chart title Color from the drop down menu. Click on the Font... button to open the fonts settings dialog.
- Text Specify a customized title for the chart in the adjacent text field.
- Legend Change the visibility, position and display settings for the legend on the chart. Check off the checkbox adjacent to Visible to hide the legend.
- Direction From the drop down list, select the direction for the series names to be displayed in the legend.
- Alignment Change the vertical and horizontal alignment of chart legend.
- Background color Select the background color for the legend box.
- Text Change the Color of the text in the chart legend and also change the Font by open the font settings dialog.
