Create properties (context menu option)

With the Create > Properties option of the context menu of a 3D grid, you can create a range of property types based on the cell values of the grid you are selecting the option for. Depending on the properties created, they are stored either directly under the Properties item of the 3D grid, or in a dedicated folder (existing or newly created) in the same location.

Create > Properties > Create Property

This option opens the Property Calculator.

Create > Properties > Geometry Properties

This option will (re)create geometrical properties in the Geometry folder of the grid (existing properties with default names will be overwritten).

Default geometry properties are: Actnum, Cell Center Depth, Cell Center Easting, Cell Center Northing, Cel Top Depth, Cell Volume, Has Thickness, I, J, K, SegmentId, Stratigraphic Cell Thickness, Vertical Cell Thickness, ZoneId_<level>.

Create > Properties > Segment Property

This option will (re)create property ‘SegmentId’ in the Geometry folder of the grid. In case property ‘SegmentId’ already exists, it will be overwritten.

The segments are the fault blocks, i.e. parts of the grid separated by the discontinuity surfaces present in the grid (i.e. any faults, unconformities and intrusions assigned to the fault model of the associated structural model).

Create > Properties > Actnum Property

This option will (re)create geometrical properties in the Geometry folder of the grid (existing properties with default names will be overwritten).

The (re)created properties are: Actnum, Cell Center Depth, Cell Center Easting, Cell Center Northing, Cell Id, Cell Top Depth, Cell Volume, Has Thickness, I, J, K, SegmentId, Stratigraphic Cell Thickness, Vertical Cell Thickness, ZoneId_<level>.

Create > Properties > Cell Id Property

This option will (re)create property ‘Cell Id’ in the Geometry folder of the grid (if property 'Cell Id' already exists, it will be overwritten).

Create > Properties > Cell Type Property

This option will (re)create property ‘Cell Type’ in the Geometry folder of the grid (if property 'Cell Type' already exists, it will be overwritten).

Property classes for 'cell type' are: Regular, Faulted, Top truncated, Base truncated, Above pinch out, Below pinch out.

Create > Properties > Depth Uncertainty QC Properties

This option will create properties inside a new folder in the grid called Depth and Thickness Uncertainty. These properties are without any structural shift yet, and are for QC purposes only. They act as a 'placeholder' and you can use them for example to do calculations using the Function and Property Tools, before an uncertainty run takes place. After you have run a Volumetric Study these properties get overwritten with the actual values based on the depth uncertainty settings.

When you reconstruct the 3D Grid that contains the Depth Uncertainty QC properties, the properties are recreated automatically and they return to their initial 'placeholder' state.
