Import via drag and drop
As a quick way of transferring data, you can open solutions on separate instances of JewelSuite 2026.1 Subsurface Modeling and drag and drop the objects from the JewelExplorer of one instance into the JewelExplorer of the other instance.
Drag and drop is supported:
- for solutions that have the same CRS.
- between instances of JewelSuite Subsurface Modeling.
- from 2021.3 onwards, only between instances that have the same version number (e.g. only from 2026.1 to 2026.1).
- between any of the JewelSuite family applications, as long as the objects are supported in both applications.
There are a few restrictions when you drag and drop your data:
- If one or more objects that you want to drag and drop are already present in the target instance of the application, drag and drop is not allowed. You must first remove the conflicting objects before trying drag and drop again.
- You cannot drag and drop a folder from one instance to another, if a sub folder of that folder is already present in the target instance of the application.
- You cannot drag and drop a group from one instance to another, if a sub group of that group is already present in the target instance of the application.
The table below shows how drag and drop feature works for the following type of data:
| Imports | Copy any data within the Imports folder, either at folder/group level or at individual object level. |
| Data | Copy any data within the Data folder, either at a folder/group level or at an individual object level. |
|
Surface set (Surface Sets > Your Surface Set) |
Copies all the surfaces (e.g. faults, horizons) within the set. |
|
Survey (Seismic Surveys > Your 3D Survey) |
Copies the seismic survey tree and only the seismic interpretations within the seismic volume folder. The seismic data is not copied unless you deliberately drag and drop. |
|
Seismic data (Seismic Surveys > Your 3D Survey > Your Seismic Volumes > Your Seismic Data) |
Copies the seismic survey and the embedded seismic data. |
|
(Seismic Surveys > Your 3D Survey > Your Seismic Volumes > Your Seismic Interpretation) |
Copies the seismic survey tree and the seismic interpretation with all available surfaces. |
|
Wells (Well Data > Wells) |
Copies all the associated data (e.g. wells, wellbores, sidetracks, logs, well designs) except the marker sets. |
|
Well design (Well Data > Well Designs) |
Copies the well plan(s) under the Wells folder and the Well Designs folder. |
|
Marker set (Well Data > Marker Sets) |
Copies all the marker sets together with all the data under the Well Data folder (e.g. wells, wellbores, sidetracks, logs, well designs). |
|
Microseismic dataset (Microseismic Datasets > Your Microseismic Dataset) |
Copies the microseismic events and treatment data associated with the dataset. |
|
Stratigraphic model (Stratigraphic Models > Your Stratigraphic Model) |
You can drag and drop a stratigraphic model. |
|
Fault model (Fault Models > Your Fault Model) |
To maintain consistency, copies also all the associated source data. |
|
3D Structural model (3D Structural Models > Your 3D Structural Model) |
To maintain consistency, copies also all the associated source data. |
|
3D Mesh structural model (3D Mesh Structural Models > Your 3D Mesh Structural Model) |
To maintain consistency, copies also all the associated source data. |
|
Fluid model (Fluid Models > Your Fluid Model) |
To maintain consistency, copies also all the associated source data. |
|
3D grid (3D Grids > Your 3D Grid) |
To maintain consistency, copies also all the associated source data. |
|
Areas / Features / Images |
You can copy either at a folder level or at an individual object level. |
You can also select multiple objects and use the drag and drop to copy objects between instances of JewelSuite Subsurface Modeling.
