The data strip
The import of different file formats is handled through the data strip. The items on the data strip are ordered by data type (e.g. 'Seismic', 'Wells', 'Faults', etc.) and let you handle the import of various data types and data representations. The most commonly used data representations in JewelSuite Subsurface Modeling are tri-meshes, 2D grids, polyline sets, point sets, markers and 3D grids. The data strip also contains a suite of 'Connectors', which allows you to link external databases, e.g. Openworks, from which the required data can be imported.
On import, the data objects are stored in the following folders in the JewelExplorer:
- Imports contains all imported surfaces (horizons, faults, unconformities, intrusions, fluid contacts, fractures), point sets (microseismic data) and polygons (boundaries, fault polygons, fault centerlines)
- Seismic Surveys contains the imported seismic volume(s)
- Well Data contains the imported well headers, well trajectories, markers, perforations and well logs
- 3D Grids contains the imported cellular grid (JewelGrid or RESCUE-B) based on the selected horizons and faults.
Initially all imported surfaces are stored in the Imports folder in the JewelExplorer. This ensures that you can retain the original data.
