Getting your data in and out of the Production Data View (Old)
There are multiple methods of both getting your production data into and out of the Production Data View (Old). Three options exist for getting the data into the view: import via the Production Data form, executing a successful reservoir simulation run and opening a solution that already contains production data. When it comes to data extraction from the view, you can export to a generic *.rate.ascii file, a TIBCO Spotfire® file or copy and paste your data to other applications.
Each of the import and export options is further described below.
Imported via the data strip The Production Data import form can be found in the Production Data sub-strip of the Data strip. Here, you can import production data in a variety of common file formats. See Importing Production Data for more.
Open a solution that contains production data Production data can be saved as part of any solution it is imported to and can be visualized when the solution is later opened. When opening a solution that already contains production data, you can open the Production Data view and begin visualizing and analyzing your data immediately.
Executing a simulation run Production data is automatically imported into your solution and is available in the Production Data View (Old) after a reservoir simulation has successfully been completed. See Simulating reservoirs for more on performing reservoir simulation.
Exporting production data
Different export options are available depending on what data you want to export. You can export the entire production data set via the *.rate.ascii (
) export or Spotfire export (
) options. If you want to export only the data that is displayed in the plots, you can do so via the right-click context menu for the plot.
Exporting whole production data sets
*.rate.ascii export
Located in the Production Data view toolbar, you can click the
icon to open an export dialog to export the entire data set as a *.rate.ascii file.
Spotfire export
Located in the Production Data view toolbar, you can click the
icon to open an export dialog that allows you to select which production data sets you want to export. These are then saved as a single TIBCO Spotfire® file.
Exporting only the plotted data
If you are interested in only exporting the data that you have visualized in the plot, you can use the right-click context menu to do so:
- Populate the plot with the desired data.
- Right-click in the plot to open the context menu.
- Hover over the Export option to reveal the to clipboard and to Excel options.
- to clipboard Copies all of the displayed data to the clipboard so that it can be pasted into an external document.
- to Excel Immediately launches a Microsoft Excel™ spreadsheet with the raw data.
