Property recognition

When importing properties, the name given to each property is read and checked against a list of commonly used property aliases to determine what property template should initially be assigned to the property. On the Recognition tab of the Property Catalog, you can view the list of aliases in the System recognition column that the system uses to assign a property template to a property during the import stage. Your own custom aliases can be specified in the User recognition column; these aliases will also be considered when determining a property template whenever you import properties.

You are not limited to just adding your own aliases to templates. When a new template is added and applied on the Property types tab it gets added to the recognition schema. You can then define the alias that you want to use for that new template here on the Recognition tab. This functionality allows you to create a completely custom catalog of templates which you can import your data directly to.

The following functionality is available to share your aliases with colleagues.

  • Import. The import button allows importing an XML file format with custom aliases, the aliases in this file are appended to the active aliases.
  • Overwrite. The overwrite button allows importing an XML file format with custom aliases, the aliases in this file replace the active aliases.
  • Export. The current user aliases are written to an XML file format. This can be imported on another computer or shared with colleagues.
  • Clear. All custom aliases are removed.

If you click Save as default catalog, your custom aliases get saved as the application defaults, just as for the templates and definitions.
