Fracture modeling workflow
In order to characterize fracture properties in ConnectFlow, a reference fracture model must be created in JewelSuite 2026.1 Subsurface Modeling using the simulate > ConnectFlow sub-strip.
The workflow begins with creating a fracture model, and assigning a source 3D grid which has an associated structural and fault model. Next, you create an unfaulted 3D grid and map the existing 3D grid properties from the source grid. The unfaulted 3D grid is utilized in ConnectFlow for generating a DFN (Discrete Fracture Network) model. Later, select the faults that you want to export to ConnectFlow to map the fluid flow and to assess the connectivity of faults with wellbore fractures. In the next step, select the wellbore fracture sets available in your solution. If your solution does not have fracture set information, you can filter wellbore trajectory data per reservoir zones that exhibit fracture flow. In the last step of the workflow, you select the 3D grid properties that will be used in ConnectFlow for further analyzes and export the complete data set filtered in the previous steps of the workflow.
Once you create the DFN model in ConnectFlow, the model can then be imported back to JewelSuite 2026.1 Subsurface Modeling using the Import Results tool.
