Simulation using the IMEX™, GEM™ or STARS™ connectors

Using the IMEX, GEM or STARS simulator connector workflows that are available under the Simulate strip (Simulate > IMEX or GEM or STARS), you can build simulation cases that are compatible with reservoir simulators from CMG (Computer Modeling Group):

  • IMEX™ a three-phase black-oil simulator.
  • GEM™ a compositional, chemical and unconventional Equation of State (EoS) based simulator.
  • STARS™ a thermal, chemical and advanced EOR methods simulator.
Important  The inputs required to create simulation cases for IMEX™, GEM™ and STARS™ are very similar. As a result, many of the forms found across these workflows are identical both in function and format. For this reason, many of the following topics describe functionality related to the three simulators. Where there are differences, you will find separate topics (or exclusive description) for each of the simulators.

While using the simulator connector workflows, JewelSuite Subsurface Modeling provides pre- and post-processing functionalities that allow you to remain entirely within the JewelSuite user interface, without the need to open any other third-party applications.

Important  The reservoir simulators do not support non-ASCII characters (e.g., accented letters, Greek symbols, and other special characters). It is crucial to use only ASCII characters in simulation input file names and directories, include file names and directories, case names, component names, or in the various data entry tables in the simulation workflow.
